So glad you're not complaining, Alex! :-)

Give me this heat anytime. Sure, it is a little humido but not so that I can't stand it. It makes you move about just a little slower and search for the shade when outside. And, as I remarked to my partner V, yesterday, stepping out of the supermarket or any air conditioned place reminds me of when we used to come from the UK and step off the aeroplane. It's like being on holiday every day.

Welcome to the blog!

Yes, it is hot here - mighty hot. The heat arrived quite late this year. Often it is steamy from mid-May onwards.

Funny you should mention global warming, in fact, if you speak to Italians who have been in Milan for 40 years or so, they will tell you that the climate has almost changed beyond all recognition. For example, in winter Milan was often covered by deep blankets of snow - but no longer, and the heat really only hit around August in Milan - no long the case.

The global warming effect has not just affected Italy, as you have noticed from the changes around Melbourne, and back in the UK summers, especially in the south, are much hotter than they used to be.

I have heard on RAI International the temperatures in Italy today. 35 degrees in Bolzano?

Milan was always oppressive in summer, but I remember in my childhood such temperatures were rare. Mainly occurring in August rather than June.

I guess it's global warming. Since I have been living in Melbourne winters have gone much milder, it basically stopped snowing in the mountains (which at latitude 38 and only about 1500m were 'marginal' anyway) and the numbers of days above 30 in summer have increased.
